Pretty Shiny Sparkly: NYFW Fall 2012 Edition

I know. New York Fashion Week was last week. But I’m still trying to process it all.

In the meantime…pretty and/or sparkly and/or shiny stuff from the shows.

This photo was taken while Becks was filming his wife’s runway show. Good-looking and sweet!

Check Marc’s Pilgrim shoes! Honestly, I think they look better on him than the models.

This Michael Kors gown is beyond beautiful. Beyond. I can’t afford it. I have nowhere to wear it. But I would kill to own it. For reals. To see it in all it’s glory, click here.

Models at three shows Oscar de la Renta, Carolina Herrera, and Derek Lam were rocking big hair. Luv it.

I think it would be fun to frame face charts. They’re like little works of art.

Jenna looking amazing (as always) at the J.Crew presentation. Those pants, those shoes− yes, please!

“Kill them with your chic!”
I like that!
I wonder if Michael comes up with the walking directions or if someone does that for him.

Peter Som Spring 2012

Peter Som has been consulting on Tommy Hilfiger’s womenswear collection for several seasons now and it seems like a match made in heaven. But I was curious. What has Som been up to at his eponymous label?

So I checked out the designer’s Spring 2012 collection and it seems everything is coming up roses− literally. Just have a look at some of the ensembles that came down the runway.

Teen Vogue’s Jane Keltner de Valle described the collection as “Jackie O goes surfing in Hawaii.”

I luv it. The clothes (and shoes and accessories) are vibrant, pretty without being precious, and simple without being boring or cliche.

My top 3 picks from the show:

I have a tiered skirt that I wear belted and with a T-shirt, so it’s not really surprising that this is one of my favorite looks.

Tommy Hilfiger Spring 2012

Tommy Hilfiger set the bar high with his fantastic Spring 2011 collection, which I dubbed “country club chic− the remix.”

Hilfiger’s Spring 2012 collection has garnered mixed reviews, but I think it’s solid. The looks are cohesive (clean lines and saturated colors throughout) and Team Tommy even managed to put new spins on classic pieces…

like the shirtdress (leather is much more novel than, say, linen or cotton)

…and −that ’70s disco staple− the jumpsuit (lapels lend a preppy vibe).

My top 3 picks from the show:

No one does pretty like Oscar de la Renta. No one.

It was too hard for me to pick favorites, so I’ve posted video of his entire Spring 2012 runway show instead. I think this is some of ODLR’s best work yet.

Enjoy!

Milly Spring 2012

Milly is one of my favorite labels and its Spring 2012 show did not disappoint. Bright colors (cobalt, red-orange, kelly green), geometric prints and, as usual, ’60s era design details were the name of the game.

The collection was “more linear and modern than it’s been, with an emphasis on clean shapes,” Milly designer Michelle Smith told New York magazine.

My top 3 picks from the show:

Aren’t these walking directions posted backstage at the Michael Kors Spring 2012 show great?
To see how the models did, check out the show here. My favorite looks are Nos. 22, 28, and 64.
