Recognize this guy?
CNN weekend anchor T.J. Holmes recently announced he’s moving to BET in 2012. The Arkansas native has inked a multi-platform talent agreement with the network that will include a television show and content on BET.com.
Holmes told The Root:
"My role will be as a journalist. They brought me on because of my news background and for my news chops. I think many people in the black community would like to turn the TV on when they get home or even in the morning to see news coverage about things that matter to them, coming from people who look like them and talk like them. We have a great opportunity to do that next year, and I hope to play a huge role."
I previously wrote that Anderson Cooper is my No. 1 reporter crush, but really it’s a tie between The Silver Fox and T.J. I mean, look at him.
He’s more than just a pretty face, though. He joined CNN five years ago (at just 29 years old) and in 2010 contributed to coverage of the Gulf Oil Spill that garnered a Peabody Award.
And if that weren’t enough, he claims he’s personally washed and pressed “every single shirt” he’s worn on TV.
A man who can properly care for his clothes? I am in love.
I am also painfully aware that he’s married. However, that didn’t stop me from asking good ol’ St. Nick for the gift of T.J.
As I’m sure you know, I’m a simple(ish) girl. So it should come as no surprise that I want just one present for Christmas: T.J. Holmes.
He’s so smart and easy on the eyes, and I’m absolutely sure that finding him underneath my tree would help me beat these winter blues ASAP.
I assure you I’ve been good this year. Yes, just last week I tried to persuade a friend to physically assault That Boy. But I think you and I both know That Boy is a manipulative jerk and an ass whooping is simply the karmic punishment he deserves. (Sorry. Didn’t mean to swear just then. It’s a bad habit. I’m working on it, though, I promise!)
Just consider all the things I haven’t done this year. Counts for something, right?
Well I know you’ve got, like, lists to check twice, elves to manage, etc., so I’ll close.
P.S. I’ll leave some bourbon and bacon out for you. Milk and cookies are for wimps.
On Sunday, T.J. confirmed (via Twitter) that his last day at CNN will be Dec. 25. I can’t decide if that’s a Christmas miracle or a Christmas tragedy.
