Wow. This trailer for “Miss Representation” blew me away.

The documentary exposes how mainstream media contribute to the underrepresentation of women in positions of power and influence in America. Basically, the film asserts that the media’s limited portrayal of women ultimately makes it difficult for us to achieve leadership positions and feel empowered.

Also, The Women’s Fund of Central Ohio is hosting a screening tomorrow, Nov. 28, and I’d love to see my local followers there!

Details:

• The screening will take place at Arena Grand Theatre. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The screening is from 6-7:30 p.m., followed immediately by a roundtable discussion that brings the conversation to a local level and asks the audience to weigh in with their thoughts about the issues raised in the film.

• A virtual discussion of “Miss Representation” will also be broadcast through UStream and Facebook during the roundtable discussion. The discussion hosts will give a brief recap of the film, then answer audience questions. Questions can be submitted in advance through UStream, Facebook or Twitter, or you can tweet them live during the show. Just be sure to use the hashtag #MissRepCO.
